The History of British Pie Week
It all began with a noble dream to pay homage to Britain’s seven century long history of pie baking. That’s why in 2007 we came up with the idea to dedicate an entire week to this much-loved dish, bringing cooks across Britain together to hail to flaky crusts and flavourful fillings.
However, British Pie Week isn’t just about the baking, it’s about the art of telling your story in a different way, too! From rabbit shaped bakes to regional twists on classics, it’s a week where creativity flows.

What is British Pie Week & How Can I Take Part?
British Pie Week is a week-long occasion where pie enthusiasts from across Britain share their Jus-Rol pie recipes, images, stories, and videos online. It’s also an opportunity to gather family and friends to tuck in and enjoy a slice of the action. After all, nothing says ‘I love you’ like freshly baked pie!
British Pie Week takes place annually during the first week of March. In 2025 Great British Pie Week will fall between March 3rd and 9th. So, have your pastry ready and prepare to get creative.

Marry Me Chicken Pie
Paige from @Glutenless_Paige
This gluten free Marry Me Chicken Pie is creamy and comforting, packed with tender chicken and topped with a flaky gluten free puff pastry. It’s an irresistible meal that’s sure to win everyone over.
Ingredients:
2 rolls of Jus-Rol Gluten Free Puff Pastry
4 diced chicken breasts (1 per person)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 red onion chopped
2 garlic cloves chopped
2 tbsp tomato puree
6 chopped sundried tomatoes
250ml chicken stock
60ml double cream
60g grated parmesan
6 chopped fresh basil leaves
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp Italian herbs
½ tsp paprika
Pinch of salt and pepper
1 egg for egg wash
Method:
1. Preheat oven to 180C.
2. Add olive oil, chopped garlic, diced chicken, garlic powder, Italian herbs, paprika, salt and pepper to a large frying pan. Cook this on a medium to high heat until the chicken is cooked. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
3. To the same pan, add the chopped onion, tomato puree and sundried tomatoes. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until the onions start to soften. Add in the chicken stock and stir well.
4. Once the sauce is starting to bubble, reduce the heat and add in the double cream and parmesan. Mix well and add the chicken back into the pan along with the chopped basil.
5. Add the pie filling into an oven safe dish. Unroll the first sheet of pastry and lay this on top of the pie filling, making sure to press the pastry into the edges of the dish. Add a small slit in the centre of the pie to release steam. Crack the egg and brush the beaten egg over the pastry surface.
6. Unroll the second sheet of pastry and use the cookie cutter to cut stars out of the pastry. Layer the stars on top of the pastry and brush once again with the egg wash.
7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and the pastry has puffed up. Once baked, leave to sit for 5 minutes before serving.
