  • Knife
  • Measuring tools (for flour, cider, etc.)
  • Baking dish or pan
  • Pastry brush (for egg wash, optional)
  • Fork (for pricking pastry)
  • Rolling pin (for unrolling puff pastry)

Method

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 180°C (356°F).
  2. Cook the Sausages: In a pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the sausage chunks and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook the Vegetables: In the same pan, add a bit of butter and fry the diced onions until soft. Then, add the pre-roasted butternut squash and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Make the Sauce: Sprinkle some flour into the pan and stir. Add the cooked sausages back in, along with minced garlic, cider, mustard, pepper, and the sage and onion stuffing mix. Cook on low to medium heat for 3 minutes.
  5. Add Stock and Apple: Pour in the vegetable stock and add the chopped apple. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
  6. Assemble the Pie: Unroll the Jus Rol puff pastry over the pan, covering the sausage and vegetable mixture. Make a small hole in the middle of the pastry and prick the sides with a fork.
  7. Bake: Brush the pastry with egg wash for a golden finish (optional). Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown.
  8. Serve: Enjoy this hearty pie on its own, or pair it with garlic mashed potatoes and gravy for a more indulgent meal.
