Simple Autumn Apple Pie & Pastry Recipes

Autumn isn’t just spooky season, it’s cosy season too! As the season’s crisp air and golden hues beckon us to bring our favourite scarves back out, we also begin to seek the warmth of hearty meals and desserts. If you ask us, there’s nothing better or more comforting than a freshly baked warm apple pie at this time of year. Whether you’re planning a family dinner or simply want to try your hand at some autumnal bakes, our great homemade autumn apple pie recipes are perfect.

Caramel Apple & Pecan Pastries

Embrace the flavours of fall with these easy to make Gluten - Free Caramel Apple & Pecan Pastries. Filled with sweet caramel, crisp apples, and crunchy pecans, they're the perfect afternoon treat for on a cosy autumn day!

Total Time: 30 minutes (15 minutes prep + 15 minutes cook)
Servings: 6

Ingredients:

1 x 280g packet of Jus-Rol gluten free puff pastry
2 x medium red apples
50g pecans
1 x jar of ready - made caramel sauce (you can also make your own!)
1 x egg for egg wash

Equipment:

Baking tray or baking sheet
Baking paper
Pastry brush
Knife

Method:

Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius.
Unroll the pastry and with a knife, cut evenly into six squares.
Lightly score the outside of each square to create a border. Do not cut all the way through the pastry.
Add a tbsp of caramel sauce into the centre of the pastry and spread evenly. Layer the sliced apples on top at an angle and add some whole and crushed pecans. Egg wash the edges of the pastry and place in the oven for 10 - 15 minutes until golden brown and well risen.
Leave on a wire rack to cool before dusting with icing sugar and drizzling more caramel sauce on top. Once cool, serve immediately.

How long will apple pie last?

While we recommend enjoying apple pie warm and fresh, it can be stored in the fridge for up to four days. If you’d like your apple pie to last longer, they can also be stored frozen in your freezer for up to six months in an airtight container in order to prevent freezer burn.
